Calvary Chapel of LaGrange
Verse-By-Verse Through the Bible

 Grace and peace to you.

We at Calvary Chapel of LaGrange invite you to join us as we seek to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18

It is our desire to follow the example given to us by the early church in Acts 2:4,
"And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers."

Join us as we study the whole Word of God, verse-by-verse, chapter-by-chapter, book-by-book and as we worship the Lord in spirit and truth.

Devotion For Today- Friday 10/9/15

"And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son."  1 JOHN 5:11

How wonderful it is to know that our lives do not end when we take our last breaths here on earth. We were created by God and for God. It is His heart that we would want to spend eternity with Him. Imagine that; that the Creator would want us to be with Him forever! And He has made a way for us to become a people able to stand in the presence of the holy and perfect God; through the Son, Jesus. Jesus Himself said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6) It is like the person who stands at the gate of Buckingham Palace wanting to have an audience with the Queen of England. He stands at the gate and says, "I want to see the Queen." What chance does he have to enter in? But suppose that while he makes his request, that Prince Charles sees him and invites him to enter in WITH HIM. Access granted through the son. So much more important than having an audience with the Queen of England through the Prince of England is the invitation we have to have an audience with the King of Kings through the Son, Jesus! This is eternal life in Jesus, with Jesus. Accept the invitation and spend eternity with the King; reject the invitation and find yourself separated from the King forever. This is the testimony; that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. Receive the gift. Accept the invitation. And praise the Lord!

The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up His Countenance upon you, and give you peace." Numbers 6:24-26

Proverb for the Week    Proverb 23:29-35

Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaints? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes?

Those who linger long at the wine, those who go in search of mixed wine.

Do not look on the wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it swirls around smoothly;

At the last it bites like a serpent, and stings like a viper.

Your eyes will see strange things, and your heart will utter perverse things.

Yes, you will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea, or like one who lies at the top of the mast, saying:

"They have struck me, but I was not hurt; they have beaten me, but I did not feel it.

When shall I awake, that I may seek another drink?"
