Grace and peace to you.
We at Calvary Chapel of LaGrange invite you to join us as we seek to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18
It is our desire to follow the example given to us by the early church in Acts 2:4,
"And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers."
Join us as we study the whole Word of God, verse-by-verse, chapter-by-chapter, book-by-book and as we worship the Lord in spirit and truth.
Devotion For Today Monday 3/10/14
"Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord." JAMES 5:14
We live in a day when medicine has become the first response to sickness. When the headache begins, its off to the medicine cabinet. We live in a day when people quarantine themselves with a cold. We have learned how quickly the flu or worse will spread person to person and for the sake of others, we isolate ourselves. There once was a day when you could call for a doctor to come to your home and treat the headache, the cold, or the flu. There once was a day when people would call for the elders of the church to pray over them and to anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. Even though most doctors do not ever see themselves as housecallers anymore, the ministry of the elder has not changed; nor his heart. The elders in the church today carry with them today the Holy Spirit within their hearts by whom all healing comes. Therefore, to desire to protect one another from the spread of the cold, the flu, or any sickness is honorable, but also call for the elders of the church, let them pray over you for whether God uses medicine, or doctor, or heals directly; all healing is by the great Physician, our Lord.
The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up His Countenance upon you, and give you peace." Numbers 6:24-26
